Immaculate Conception, Old South End

After rebuilding, from the 1920 fire, was completed, but before the new pews and altars were installed.

Jeffrey Smith said...: Well, for one thing, they're enormous and pews would cost a fortune. Since the cathedrals are put to a lot of different uses, they'd get in the way, as well.
Actually pews are a relatively new invention. It's only a hundred years or so since people became too proud to kneel on the floor.; August 28, 2007 at 6:31:00 PM EST
