Artwork handed on from Bishop Schrembs . . . to Bishop Thomas

At a Aug. 26 morning press conference, Bishop Daniel Thomas noted that he received a piece of artwork from now-deceased Cardinal John Foley -- the piece was originally owned by the first bishop of the Toledo Diocese, Bishop Joseph Schrembs.  Full story over at Catholic Philly

St. Joseph, Sylvania

Post card of earlier St. Joseph church in Sylvania -- I think this is the first church, built in 1871; a second church was built in 1930.  The current church was built in 1967.

Chaldean Catholic Updates

For many years, Chaldean (Iraqi) Catholics from the Detroit area have gathered at Our Lady of Consolation Shrine in Carey, Ohio, to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption.  This year the Chaldean community is greatly concerned about the violence against Christians and other religious minorities in Iraq.  If you would like to stay informed about the situation, visit the "Help Iraq" website HERE.  The website is affiliated with the St. Thomas the Apostle Chaldean Catholic Eparchy of the U.S.A
