St. Martin de Porres

The pictures were taken by some water rat who's probably off messing about in boats.

St. Martin de Porres

Yes, the day was just as cold as it looks. My joints still haven't recovered.

St. Martin de Porres

There are niches at both ends of the porch. Apparently, they were made for statues that never were commissioned.

Gallagher Hall, St. Martin de Porres

This, along with the Cathedral School, would easily have my nod for being one of the best designed Catholic school buildings in Toledo.

St. Martin de Porres

As I've said, St. Martin de Porres has one of the best towers in Toledo.
The basic design is very good.
I'm impressed by the stonework around the entrance, and by the Art Deco influenced reliefs of the Evangelists.

Unfortunately, the full scale sculpture; statues of the Sacred Heart, St. Anne with Our Lady, and a Crucifixion group at the top, are about what you'd expect to find on a cut-rate tombstone.
They're awful. This is the one glaring note on an otherwise excellent building.

St. Martin de Porres

There'll be plenty more over the next few days. At the moment, I'm afraid, I feel like I've been hit by a truck.
