Good Friday Walk to the Shrine in Carey

Continuing a tradition, there will be a walk from St. Nicholas chapel in Frenchtown to Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, Ohio on Good Friday.

After much speculation as to which St. Francis (Assisi? Xavier? de Sales?) our new Pope hopes to emulate with his name, we now know it is indeed Assisi.
But hey, they're all good.

Good Shepherd, Built to Last

Cleveland Quarries, in existence since 1868, provided the "Berea Sandstone" used in construction of East Toledo's Good Shepherd church.  The sandstone is quarried in the Amherst and Birmingham areas near Lorain.  An interesting list of landmarks constructed from this stone can be found HERE

In Detroit: Joan of Arc Film & Oratorio

The Detroit Film Theatre will show the majestic silent film "The Passion of Joan of Arc," accompanied by the performance of the oratorio "Voices of Light" by the Rackham Symphony Choir.  Screenings are on Friday, March 22 & Saturday, March 23, 2013.  Full details HERE.
