The Donor

Alex's post on the Sorrowful Mother Shrine, in Norwalk, made me curious, but Kevin Hammer got to the research first. Here's a picture of Margaret Fisher, the donor of the shrine, with her seven sons. All seven of them were involved in the Fisher Body Company. Margaret Fisher's husband Lawrence had owned a carriage shop in Norwalk.
There's information on the family HERE and on their activities in the Detroit Archdiocese HERE.
Looks like a nice lady. My grandmother Emma Garland Smith always wore dark dresses with plenty of lace at the collar.

I believe that the family also started the Fisher-Titus Hospital in Norwalk too.
