Time To Wake Up!

I have a suggestion for the Diocese. Now, for quite some time, I have been disgusted by the low quality of some of the parish website. Worse, yet, some parishes completely lack websites. There is absolutely no excuse for this and it needs to be corrected. The older people involved, of my own age and older, need to start realizing that the world has changed and a parish website is no longer something that can be set aside. In this day and age, a GOOD website is absolutely essential as a form of outreach. Everyone needs to stop burying their heads in the sand. In case you haven't noticed, it's the 21st century and the internet is here to stay.
How can this be done? Simple! Turn the job over to your young people. Get your 1970's attitude out of the way and let them handle it. I guarantee they'll do a better job than we find on some of the rinky-dink pieces of garbage we have now.
What started this rant? It's been building for quite some time and I decided it's time to speak my mind.
You've noticed the photographs I've been posting from Alex Fries. Well, he's handling websites for three parishes and, from what I can see, he's doing a fine job. I've just been informed that the site for St. Anthony, Milan is up and running, and once again, it's well done. Alex deserves recognition and gratitude for taking on the job. His pastor deserves credit and gratitude for having the sense to know where to go to get the job done. I suspect every parish has young people, like Alex, who have the expertise and willingness to put together a website their parishes can be proud of. It's time for that fact, and that untapped resource, to be recognized.

Unarguably true!! For some reason the older generation is behind the times in more than just "their" theology. The Diocese has a decent website as well as a pretty good vocations website. Parishes need to realize the importance of having a decent website. Perhaps the Pastors need to be convinced of the ease of running a website.

Jeffrey,

Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen. . .

The Diocese can be funny that way.

Kinda stodgy, that bunch...

I wouldn't say it's the Diocese. The problem is at the parish level.
