The Donor
Alex's post on the Sorrowful Mother Shrine, in Norwalk, made me curious, but Kevin Hammer got to the research first. Here's a picture of Margaret Fisher, the donor of the shrine, with her seven sons. All seven of them were involved in the Fisher Body Company. Margaret Fisher's husband Lawrence had owned a carriage shop in Norwalk.
There's information on the family HERE and on their activities in the Detroit Archdiocese HERE.
Looks like a nice lady. My grandmother Emma Garland Smith always wore dark dresses with plenty of lace at the collar.

The other Sorrowful Mother Shrine
This is the shrine here in Norwalk. It was built by St. Paul's in the 30's i believe. Where it stands now was where the former St. Peter's church used to stand.
I was able to gain access to it today, amazingly. The place is always locked, except for summer masses on Wednesday nights. You'd think that a shrine like this would be open at least during the day, or on the weekends.

The "Fishers" mentioned in this tablet are the Fishers who were part of the Fisher Body Company. Hence, where the dough came from to build the place.

In the vestibule, at SS Peter and Paul, is a statue of Our Lady of San Juan de los Lagos, which was brought from Mexico several decades ago.
