...and what a wonderful bishop he was (I wasn't a fan). I think it's funny that he has his Vatican II book next to him.
Hopefully, he actually read it. Most of the problems arose when people didn't.
Growing up in Toledo in the early 80s was an experience!
I won't speak ill of the man personally - the very few times I met him, I was impressed that he was a good man with a good soul. I will however offer that on his watch - as was so common so many places in that time - some rather agenda-driven dissidents took advantage of his laid back style.
So I've heard.
