I don't think Jeffery ever posted this picture i sent him. I found this picture in our school religion book. I'm leaving this one open for comment.

A tribute to the treasure trove of ecclesiastical art and architecture in the Diocese of Toledo.

I haven't posted it because I have big plans for it elsewhere. Just haven't gotten to it.
Is it too much to expect that they use it as an example of what a church is NOT supposed to look like?
hahahaha, try late 90's.
Jeff: i believe it is in the section that talks about parish communities or something. It has nothing to do with church design where it is placed.
Now Kyle, you're young enough to remember how school books are done. Someone puts together a new one with all the latest bells and whistles, them they keep reprinting it until it's hopelessly out of date, then give it a new cover and up the price %200 for a new addition. Half the material in most of the textbooks out there is probably vintage 70's. I remember a young man showing me his college sociology text, with a whole chapter on Bishop Tutu. All through it they called him a Catholic bishop and talked about the Church's reaction to him. He's Anglican.
There's a reason for the phrase "ivory tower" in reference to the groves of academe.
It's secretly ad orientem propaganda. Look at the big sun!
:)
What parish is this? Do you know if this priest is responsible for this display?
Since it's in a textbook, it's nowhere around here. California would be my guess.
I'd also guess it's a fairly old picture.
This photo along with a footnote will be in history books one day:
"And for a brief time after the Second Vatican Council, poor taste reigned supreme before the Benedictine reforms."
Got it in one!
