I haven't posted it because I have big plans for it elsewhere. Just haven't gotten to it. Is it too much to expect that they use it as an example of what a church is NOT supposed to look like?
Now Kyle, you're young enough to remember how school books are done. Someone puts together a new one with all the latest bells and whistles, them they keep reprinting it until it's hopelessly out of date, then give it a new cover and up the price %200 for a new addition. Half the material in most of the textbooks out there is probably vintage 70's. I remember a young man showing me his college sociology text, with a whole chapter on Bishop Tutu. All through it they called him a Catholic bishop and talked about the Church's reaction to him. He's Anglican.

hahahaha, try late 90's.
ReplyDeleteJeff: i believe it is in the section that talks about parish communities or something. It has nothing to do with church design where it is placed.

ReplyDeleteThere's a reason for the phrase "ivory tower" in reference to the groves of academe.
ReplyDeleteIt's secretly ad orientem propaganda. Look at the big sun!
ReplyDelete:)
What parish is this? Do you know if this priest is responsible for this display?
ReplyDeleteSince it's in a textbook, it's nowhere around here. California would be my guess.
ReplyDeleteI'd also guess it's a fairly old picture.
ReplyDeleteThis photo along with a footnote will be in history books one day:
ReplyDelete"And for a brief time after the Second Vatican Council, poor taste reigned supreme before the Benedictine reforms."
Got it in one!
