An Earlier Work

Pictured above is St. Agnes church in Cleveland, designed by John T. Comes, the architect of Toledo’s Rosary Cathedral. Artist Felix Lieftuchter, who painted the mural above the altar at Rosary Cathedral, also painted the apse in St. Agnes. The church was dedicated in 1916, then torn down (except for the tower) in 1975.

St. Joseph, Marblehead

St. Patrick. Elmore

A while back, Kevin brought this one to my attention. Finally got a chance to have a look, then I ended up too busy elsewhere to bother posting.
St. Patrick's was built 1888-1889 and closed in 1907.
It was turned to face Congress Street and converted to a house. There are two pointed arch windows on the porch.

Kelleys Island

From 1933 until the early 1970s, the famous Kelleys Mansion was owned by the Dominican Sisters of Adrian, Michigan, serving first as a retirement/summer home for sisters, then later as a summer camp for girls. (Note cross on the mansion in photo.)

Apparently, at some time in the early 1900s, the Fathers of the Blessed Sacrament also had a presence on the island, staying in a structure rebuilt from the John Stokes wine cellar (see link):

St. Mary, Vermilion

Photo from a 1900 Cleveland Diocesan history. It looks as though this is still part of the current structure: http://www.stmaryvermilion.org/
