St. Adalbert

Toledo's monument to John Paul the Great.

Part of the Rectory Treasure

The altar cards, which were recently found at the rectory of Immaculate Conception parish, were put to their intended use on Sunday.
That's the reflection of the rose window, by the way.

Assumption at Carey

Old church tower and new church tower.

The statue of Our Lady of Consolation had not yet returned...

Pilgrims often place their candles on the Stations of the Cross after the procession. (The little white sign asks them not to, but after all, it's dark outside.)

St. Adalbert

Now that I've had a look, I consider St. Adalbert's exterior to be the best of any parish church in Toledo.
Unfortunately, the lighting's bad in the mid-afternoon, so I'll have to go back some morning.
Notice the Holy Face and the monstrances.

A New Policy

I've decided to block anonymous comments.
Now, I realize we get a number of very welcome anonymous comments, usually signed in the text. Got one this morning, as a matter of fact. I'd ask all of them to take a moment to sign up for a Google account. It's easy and doesn't cost a cent. There's a link on each comment page.
I regret inconveniencing these readers, but there's another sort of anonymous commenter who's not so welcome. I'm afraid that sort also doesn't realize that, through Site Meter, they can be traced anyway.

Coming Tomorrow

Due to a fortuitous set of circumstances, I ended up in Lagrinka today, just long enough to get some quick snapshots of St. Hedwig and St. Adalbert. For me "some quick snapshots" means about eighty of them.

Rosary Cathedral

I went to Mass there last evening. Unfortunately, that time of day has the worst possible lighting for photography. The back's too bright and the front's in full shadow. Had a nice talk with Fr. Singler and Deacon Carone, though. Warned them that I'll be kibbitzing with their tour guides and taking pictures for the next decade. Now that I'm feeling a bit less like I've been run over by a freight train, I'll pick a nice morning to take the tripod and fill a memory card with details of the exterior sculpture.
One day last week, I was waiting for a bus at Delaware and Collingwood at noon. Good timing. I hadn't realized there are bells in these turrets.
I hope I'm not speaking out of turn, but I understand a book on the cathedral's artwork is being prepared.

Leeper-Geddes House, Old West End

This was used as the bishop's residence, until the present building was finished.

St. Mary, Toledo

Good stonework.
