St. Sebastion, Bismark

I think that little "outcrop", if you will, is really interesting. I think, too, that the paint really has two sides to it...One, up close...the paint looks terrible, and you almost long to see the actual stone...but from a distance, in combination with the copper spire, it is just stunning.

Closed Parish. Really a shame. It's also only a short drive away from me. I may have to to take visit to it tomorrow, as i have the day

As you can see, I am back to posting after a bit of a break. I have much in store!

Immaculate Conception, Old South End

The two confessionals are another part of Joseph Huber's overall design.
They match the seating in the sanctuary. Huber thought of everything.

I haven't posted these in quite a while. They give a more general view of the damage.

Before the fire.
Was it a good design? Yes. A great design? No.
Do I wish a lot of the artwork could have been saved for use elsewhere? Absolutely.
Do I think the fire was a blessing in disguise since it paved the way for a truly great design? Frankly, yes. It also saved us the cost of heating that extra twenty feet of height.

Mary Manse College, Old West End

I won't go so far as to, like the swallows, call it the house of the perfect eaves, but they're certainly among the most interesting I've seen.

St. Augustine, Napoleon

Finally, an interior picture.
Very good. Victorian without being fussy or overdecorated. The high altar is excellent and I love that chair.

Immaculate Conception, Deshler

It may be a bit out of character, but I like A-frames.

St. Patrick, Bascom

The middle of the window is the Descent of the Holy Spirit.

Top of the window is the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the middle is the Presentation in the Temple. (I think the west windows show the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary and the east windows show the Glorious Mysteries.)

St. Joseph, Green Springs

St. Joseph parish in Green Springs functioned mostly as a mission of parishes in neighboring towns, beginning in 1854. In 1872, the church pictured above was built. Gradually, parish families moved away from Green Springs in search of employment opportunities, and the mission was closed in 1915.

Currently, Green Springs is home to a Catholic long-term care hospital, St. Francis Health Care Centre: http://www.sfhcc.org
