Not too far from the Diocese of Toledo, the National Shrine of St. Dymphna is located in Massillon, Ohio, close to Canton. St. Dymphna is the patron saint of persons with mental or nervous disorders; the shrine is on the grounds of the former Massillon State Hospital.
On Tuesday, May 15, 2012, the Feast of St. Dymphna, at 3:00 pm, Bishop George V. Murry, SJ of Youngstown will be at the shrine to celebrate the 74th anniversary of its dedication. The celebration will begin with the sung Litany of St. Dymphna during the procession from the outdoor Votive Shrine (weather permitting) to the Church for Mass. Visit the shrine's website HERE.
Massillon is also home to the impressive St. Mary's church -- photo links HERE.
