  2. On Martha Ave, to be exact -- between Sylvania and Berdan, a block east of Haverhill.

  3. I am trying to remember a 7th grade nun in the 1958-1960 era. I know Sister Eugenia was one of the 7th grade teachers and I believe this nun returned to the school to teach 7th grade. It was not Sister Gregory or Sister Helen Rita. Thanks for any help you can give.

  4. I am in 8th grade now. 1st grade was my last year here before it closed. I still have such a vivid memory.

  5. Even though I was not Catholic, I have very fond memories of going to church with my grandparents on Sunday morning after spending the night Saturday at their house. It did not matter what the weather was like we would always enter through the back parking lot door and sit in the pews on the side. I remember my older sister getting married in that church, and also attending funeral services for my grandparents. I went through that neighborhood about a year ago showing a few places to my younger daughter and I have memories of and it was sad to see St Agnes was closed down and seem to have had some vandalism to the church. I used to admire the architectural structure in the stained glass windows.

  6. I would like to know if or when they plan on demolishing the Church! I grew up in St Agnes and have tried to get info on it several times! I know there has been some damage and have taken some pictures in the past ! Any info would be appreciated! Thank you ! Carolyn Behan Martin Class of '56

  7. Does anyone have any pictures of the interior of the church?

  8. I just added a photo above from a school program held in the church in the late 80s. The interior had a large central section with side wings on each side toward the front. At least in the 80s, there was some simple stenciling but no murals. The interior was painted off-white, with altars having a green marble background (sort of like those at St. Hyacinth), but with some wrought metal canopies. I think the Stations of the Cross were relief style, set into the walls. The altar on the left had a painting of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. My general impression was that the interior was kind of drab and dark. If I find better interior photos, I will post.

  9. Is the church still standing? My dad died in 1971 and we had his funeral there.

  10. Yes, still standing. If you look for 3904 Martha Ave Toledo on Google Earth, you can see it in street view.

  11. The decision to close was made in 2004, not sure when it officially closed. The parish territory was merged with St. Catherine's.
