The cornerstone, inscribed: "In Nomine Domini Hic Lapis Primarius Die XXVII Junii A.S. MCMXXVI Clero Populoque Toletano Laetanibus Samueli Alphonso Episcopi Impositus Fuit."The translation, with help from Fr. Paul Kwiatkowski: "In the name of the Lord. This cornerstone was placed on the 27th day of June 1926 AD, with the clergy and people of Toledo rejoicing, by Samuel Alphonsus (Stritch) Bishop."
