St. Mary, Norwalk
I hope everyone at St. Mary's is duly appreciative. Have a look at Alex Fries' NEW PROJECT. Do you have any idea how few small parishes have something like this?
Don't worry...you do have a good idea. I just got pictures of our stations yesterday. I'm very sure that's somthing we do not have (detailed things for insurence) and we can't afford, as you said, the unthinkable. I think the next panorama i will do will be from the sanctuary, looking out into the congregation. And if i can get those stupid high-res pictures up on the internet i may be thrilled. I just can't find a site that will host very large images...for free mind you.
Alex, has the parish budgeted any money for the website? Perhaps it would be worth seeing if we can put up more money for such efforts as paying for web hosting, etc.
ehh...well i am considering asking to pay for a larger photobucket account. We pay a good deal for our domain names...(stmarynorwalk.com/org....stanthony.org, stalphonsus.org) if we dont' pay for those we'd have to type in outragously large addresses. 80 bucks a year is a little much for that but whatever. I want to get a .com suffix for st. anthony's and st. alphonsus...just so we have control over that name. (in case of any typo's by people)
Now that i think of it...we pay for the hosting every 2 years i think...i would like to get FTP service...but...looking at the features and the lengths you have to go to, to get their cheap FTP service, it's not worth it. Catholic web is pretty cheap. However, with the FTP package comes frontpage hosting...which i may use at some point when the website grows over the summer. (yes, it will grow)
speaking of which. To make this comment even longer, i'm in the planing stages of a parish video. (of ministries mainly...but also of the church itself.) www.strosepb.org ...they have some good videos.(ministry video link on the left) I got the idea, Jay, from Mike Doughty after watching the video that Father Ron brought in from his parish in flordia. He somewhat jokingly said that i should make one. but we talked and decided it could be a possibility
I'm certainly appreciative. Keep up the good work, Alex!
ReplyDeleteEvery church and parish needs this kind of video and more, for insurance purposes, just in case the unthinkable happens.
ReplyDeleteGreat work Alex, but don't stop here ;-)

That sounds great, Alex. Definitely keep up the good work. I'm pretty computer-illiterate, but let me know if I can help any way.
ReplyDeleteJay: Haha that's okay. If you ever have any pictures of events around the parish and think they can be used in such a video, just let me know.
ReplyDeleteJeff: if you ever come across pictures of St. Anthony in milan, try and get them to me. Old pictures that is.
